BACK TO THE GAME

This article contains everything you need to know about Arkadium's Block Champ game.

Use the list below to navigate specific topics about Block Champ.

Block Champ is a puzzle game that resembles other 10x10 classics, but with a few twists!

Select any shape from the panels on the right of your screen. Drag the block to any space that fits, and repeat.

Your goal is to completely fill rows and columns with blocks.

When you fill a row or column, those blocks will disappear – but watch out for frozen tiles, which require their line to be cleared twice before they disappear. Lightning tiles are there to help you, though! Collecting two in one line clears that line immediately.

Your score multiplier increases with each simultaneous line clear, so combine your line fills for a high score! Keep playing until no more blocks fit.

When starting the game, choose between single color or multicolor blocks. Then, press play to start.

On top, you'll see your current score multiplier, score, and high score. You'll also see the audio icon you can click on to mute the sound, and the exit button, to leave the game.

Tips

Some game mechanics are designed to help you on your way, but some are there to make the game harder. Here are some tips and tricks that we hope you find useful:

Block Champ is a game that constantly provides you with a set of 3 random block figures that you must drag and place on a 10x10 grid.

Goal. The goal is simple to understand yet hard to execute - keep placing each figure in a way that allows enough space for the next one and repeats this as long as you can.

General strategy. The main way to keep the grid clear is by completely filling a row or column with blocks. After you do this, those blocks will disappear and grant you bonus points.

Multiplier. If you can place a figure that clears multiple rows or columns at the same time, it will permanently increase your score multiplier for the rest of the game.

NOTE: try to gain multipliers as early as possible because it's a cumulative bonus and there is plenty of free space at the beginning of the game

Lightning tile. Sometimes one block in the figure may randomly have a lightning icon on it. If you line up any row or column with 2 of those lightning blocks, it will clear the whole line!

Frozen tile. However, sometimes one block in a figure may be frozen. When you clear a line that has a frozen block, it will melt and become a regular block. If you clear it again, it will be completely removed. Most of the time, this block makes the game harder, but you can use them to your advantage!

Leave space for the big tiles. This final tip is simple but very important. While placing your figures, always try to leave free space for the possibility that one of these lines or cube figures appear in the next set. These are the biggest figures in the game, and they lead to game overs most of the time:

When you’ve mastered all these tips and tricks, you’ll be able to climb up the leaderboards and become a true Block Champion!

Scoring

General formula. The total score is the sum of squares and lines removed.

  • 1 square = 1 point.
  • 1 line = 10 squares = 10 points.

Example:

If you place a figure that takes up three squares, you earn three points.

If you place a figure that takes up three squares, and it clears a line, you earn 13 points.

Multiplier. Here is how the multiplier works:

  • Removing 2 lines = current multiplier + 0.15.
  • Removing 3 lines = current multiplier + 0.3.
  • Removing 4 lines = current multiplier + 1

All scores are permanently multiplied by the current value.
