How to play
Not Not is a fun popular game about following directions. Think of it as a more complex and involved version of Simon Says. Follow the written instructions to swipe your character towards the correct direction (up, down, left or right) and victory.
The game begins in the main menu. You have 8 lives to use, shown on the top left, with a timer ticking down to when more will be given to you. You can also watch videos to get free lives on the top right, while the Options menu is on the bottom right.
The two modes available to you are Classic Mode and Challenge Mode. Both show the progress you've made on each one as well as all of the cleared levels.
Selecting Classic Mode will give you a number of different levels to clear. Cleared levels will be shown in gold. Available levels, in black. And levels you've yet to unlock, will be shown with a lock icon. Each level has a difficulty set and a number of steps to complete.
You can unlock more levels by fulfilling more challenges.
Selecting Challenge Mode will give you an endless challenge instead of specific levels. There are 3 different difficulties, and you'll unlock more as you achieve specific number of steps per difficulty.
The game is very simple. To play, swipe with your finger or mouse, or use your keyboard arrow keys, up, down, left and right. Simply follow the directions in the cube and the player character will go where it needs to. If you make an error, or let the time elapse, you'll fail and lose a life.
As you progress, instructions will become more and more complex, featuring negative directions, colors, and many others.
Should you lose, you'll lose a life. You can prevent this by clicking to watch an ad on the right option. Pick the left option to continue by using a life. Pick the "Close" option to exit.
Tips
Here are some tips to improve your performance:
1. Master the Basics
- Pay attention to color and direction cues.
- Understand the meaning of "Not" and how it affects the command.
2. Train Your Brain for Double Negatives
- If the instruction says "Not Left", you should move in any direction except left.
- If it says "Not Not Right", cancel out the double negatives—it simply means "Right."
3. Focus on Keywords
- Identify key words first: Not, Not Not, Direction, Color
- Break down each command logically before moving.
4. Keep a Steady Rhythm
- Don’t rush—reacting too fast without processing the instructions can cause mistakes.
- Get comfortable with the game’s pace before speeding up.
5. Improve Reaction Time
- Play regularly to develop muscle memory for quick decision-making.
- Try other brain-training games to enhance reflexes and pattern recognition.
6. Anticipate Higher Levels
- The game gets harder with more complex commands—practice staying calm under pressure.
- If you see multiple negatives, take a split second to decode them before reacting.
Scoring
